Casual Coffee Chat

Video: https://youtu.be/VOz8WPCXXvw

What’s up? I just wanted to do a quick, casual video in between my two videos for the Contemporary-a-thon. So… Before I continue, I wanted to tell you that I want to do a Q&A, so if you have any questions. It can be about anything, leave them below (or on the video linked above). No promises I will answer them, but go ahead and leave the questions you have for me down there.

Okay, to today’s post! If you missed my recent post/video, I’m doing a readathon right now. It started this past Monday, and will be finished this Sunday. You have to read books that fit seven categories. You can read seven books or books that cover more than one category, I went with seven books. I’ve finished four so far and started on the fifth. I think I can actually finish all of them in time, and maybe even some extras. The four books that I’ve read so far: Black Panther A Nation Under Our Feet Vol. 2. I enjoyed it. Second, The Hate U Give. Ahhh, yes. I will expand more later, but you have to read this. Third, The Serpent King. Not what I was expecting, but worth it. Fourth, Words in Deep Blue. Err, I may have to get my own copy of this one. I’m not going to go in-depth here, because I’m planning to do a wrap-up post/video when I’m done with all seven books. So let’s move on!

Last week, a couple weeks ago, whatever, I posted asking you for questions for a Q&A. I didn’t get any responses. It’s fine. It’s fine. No, I’m kidding, but leave questions in the comments please! I did get one response from Ikvy. She occasionally comments on my videos, and she emailed me with a list of, I believe, 25 questions that she said she tends to send if people need to do a Q&A. So I will answer a few of them here.

If you could save just three historical buildings from destruction, which three would you choose? When I first saw this question, my immediate thought was the Library of Alexandria. So sad. I plan to make a full video about it later, so hold on that. Second, the Great Mosque of Aleppo. It’s so beautiful! Third, Cincinnati’s Old Main Library. Look it up. So beautiful. My dream place. My dream library. I know, two out of three are libraries. But what do you expect from me?

Which famous painting would you most want to hang in your place? That would be either Van Gogh’s Starry Night, or Dali’s Clock Explosion.

What do you wish they taught you in high school? Finances. I know some high schools do have that offered, or something similar. But it’s often offered as an elective. I think it should be a mandatory math class or something, because now, a lot of students graduate from high school and have no clue how to do finances. So that would be good.

I will pause there with the questions from Ikvy, because (in the video, light is fading fast and) I would like to save some of these questions for a longer Q&A post/video.

Over a while, I’ve gotten a few questions about ASL translations of music, ASL covers. I could go on and on in a whole video about this – and I think I will – but basically, my answer is I… I really don’t care. BUT I do wish that ASL students would be clear that they are ASL students. Like in the title that this is practice, or something. And not make it seem like, “Yeah I’m skilled at ASL, I’m doing this.” Don’t act like your translation is right, the 100% perfect way to translate it. It depends on how you interpret the songs, so… Yeah, I think I’m just going to make a full video about this, because *sighs* It’s a complicated topic. But I will say this. I have thought about doing some ASL translations myself, but we’ll see.

Before I wrap up, I have a few questions for you. One, have you seen my video about creativity? Link here. Have you seen it? What do you think of it? Do you want to see more like that style? Let me know! Second, remember I want to do a Q&A, so leave questions in the comments. You can tweet me, or on Instagram, or whatever, I don’t care. Just send questions to me. Third is kind of related to the second. If you don’t have a question, but want me to make a full video about a topic or whatever, go ahead and leave it in the comments. Or DM me, or whatever. Just say if you want me to make a full video about it. Again, no promises I will answer all of the questions. I will answer what I can, and what I feel fine with answering, okay? Yeah, I think I’m done for today, so be sure you leave a comment about something!
