Hello, I’m Rogan and welcome to a book post! I was sorta tagged to do the Meme Book Tag by Kathy. Here you go! But before I do that, I want to mention something really quick about Reverse Polarity, I’ve mentioned it before when I was talking about going to the Seattle Deaf Film Festival. I was saying it’s really good and stuff. Today (Thursday, April 12, 2018), the first episode is out! Go watch it. All you have to do is sign up for a free account on dpan.tv, snd you have to be 18 and up. That’s all. Go watch it. It’s worth it. Or you could just wait until all six are out, then binge watch. Whatever, it’s up to you. I just want to make sure you support #DeafTalent, and support this fantastic show, which I want to see more of! That done, to today’s video, the Meme Book Tag. Basically, it’s a list of memes paired with books, so this should be interesting!

1 Crying kim k.jpgOveCrying Kim Kardashian – a book that made you cry. For this one, I have to say A Man Called Ove. I’m not a crier. I didn’t really cry reading this either, but I definitely had THE FEELS. So yes, read this.

2 Salt bae.jpgSalt bae – a book that needed just a little something more. I immediately thought of four books, and couldn’t decide between them, so I’m just going to tell you all of them. First, a book I haven’t talked about on this channel, Upstream. I will talk about it in my wrap-up, but yeah… I felt not satisfied when it was finished. Second, The Orchid Thief. I’ve mentioned this before, I just… I gave it three stars if I remember right, I was just not… I feel like it could have been a lot better if the certain way it was written was a little different.

Third, I Hate Everyone But You. I’ve mentioned this before. Again, I felt… It was too similar to the authors. I just wish they had changed the story a little bit, added in things they don’t experience, but… It’s their first book, so… I guess? Fourth, very recently mentioned, You’re Welcome, Universe. I was satisfied, but the ending felt a little cut off, it ended abruptly, and… It could have more.

3 Guy thinking.JPGLang at the speed of sightGuy thinking – a book that made you think. I chose Language at the Speed of Sight for this one. It’s a book basically about language and reading, how we learn how to read, how writing evolved, really. And it’s SO fascinating, but DENSE. It took me a while to get through, but I enjoyed it. I loved it.

4 Confused guy.pngcursed child.jpegConfused guy – a book whose hype you don’t understand. I had two for this one. I thought of the first one, then decided I would choose another one because the first book doesn’t exist to me, and that is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I did not like it. Now, it may just be because it’s better as a play, but… I don’t know what you’re talking about. The second book, funnily enough, is another play, Wicked. wicked.jpgMy first read through, I liked it, but then as I was thinking about it, well wait, there’s a lot of plot holes, and… Yeah, I don’t know. I’ve heard a lot of things that it’s better as a play, so maybe that’s why

5 Evil Patrick.jpglunar chronicles.jpgEvil Patrick – a guilty pleasure read. I don’t know what this would be, because I read whatever I want to. I don’t think about if it’s not appropriate for my age level or whatever. I just read it, and enjoy it. But I guess I would say The Lunar Chronicles, because it’s absolutely YA. And it’s not exactly targeted to my age–my demographic, so I guess?

6 Meryl streep.jpgRamona Blue.jpgMeryl Streep – a book that you’re always hyping up. I don’t necessarily repeatedly mention books on this channel, but I have often mentioned this specific book to my friends, and a few times on this channel: Ramona Blue. I. Just. Love. This. Book. It’s fantastic. If you haven’t read it, do it. Now.

7 Successful baby.jpgThe Explorers Guild.jpgSuccessful baby – a book, whether you liked it or not, that you felt accomplished after reading. I chose The Explorers Guild: A Passage to Shambhala. I did enjoy it, yes, but it took me a WHILE to get through it because it’s thick, about 800 pages. And…whew. The style is different too, like I’ve mentioned, it’s written in both text and comics, so that was very interesting. But it took a while.

8 Pennywise.pngdeadpool vol 3.jpgPennywise – a book with a promising concept or one you had high expectations for, but ultimately let you down. I would have to say Deadpool Classic Vol. 3. I haven’t talked about this, I just read it. I chose this only because it wasn’t what I was expecting from Deadpool. I’ve never read Deadpool, and I saw this at the library, so I grabbed it. I thought it was Vol. 1… Turns out, no, it’s Vol. 3, so it may be just because I jumped in at the wrong place. What I was expecting from Deadpool was, well, the movie, so…

9 Headphones guy.jpgseries of unfortunate events.jpgHeadphones guy – an audiobook that you enjoyed. Hm. I’m still going to answer this, but with a twist. A book-to-TV Show adaptation that I enjoyed: A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix. I know a lot of people don’t like it. But honestly, I love it. It is weird. It is campy. But I feel like that’s kind of what it should be. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. Or maybe it’s just what I remember of the books. Maybe I should reread them.

10 Distracted Boyfriend.jpgDistracted guy – Two books; one you’ve been neglecting on your TBR for a long time and a new one that’s distracting you/piquing your interest. A lot of the books on my TBR are not books that I own. The books that I own aren’t on my GoodReads TBR. So… I will just go with what I own. I still don’t understand why I’ve never read this, The Princess Bride. This is a big thing in my family, so… I probably should get on that.

What I was recently distracted by: The Themis Files, I just couldn’t wait to read them. So I went ahead and read them. And one I JUST finished, A Darker Shade of Magic. YES. I…Yes. I will talk about this in my wrap-up. Oh! And another one I’ve been wanting to read, but I’m resisting (and not succeeding very well) until it gets to me: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I really want to read it, so I’ve put it on hold at my library, because… I just want to read it NOW. And… I’m really trying to wait for the #travelsimon book, but… It might not happen.

11 Catch me outside.jpgPiper.JPGCatch me outside girl – A book that tried to be something that it’s not. Piper. I HATED this. I gave it, I think, two stars on GoodReads. I would’ve given it one star, but it’s beautifully drawn. The story’s okay. So, two stars. But. I. Didn’t like it. Because it tried to sell it as a story about a deaf girl who lives in a town. This is an adaption of the Piper of Hamelin, and the Piper comes to town, the girl’s a little attracted to him, whatever. The writing was really choppy. The portrayal of the deaf character wasn’t even close to authentic. No. Don’t, don’t read it.

12 Dog on fire.jpgDog in fire – how many unread books do you own? At least 60? This alone, I have 30 books. And that doesn’t even include all of the books on my shelves, because my TBR mug is mostly books in this room or a bunch of books in a box that my family got from a sale. That’s it. There’s plenty of books on the shelves that I haven’t read, and several that are my parents’ that I want to read too, so… 60, probably more? Also, I have a problem with NOT getting books from the library, because one, I can’t resist the siren call of the library. Two, it’s really hard to resist when I live less than two minutes away from the library.

BONUS – Pick a meme that wasn’t featured in this tag and pair a book with it. I couldn’t resist doing more than one, so you get two from me today!

13 Winona Ryder.jpgBroken places.jpgWinona Ryder SAG – a book that took you on a rollercoaster ride. At the Broken Places: A Mother and Trans Son Pick Up the Pieces. This is a memoir of sorts. The mother in this really irritated me. The son’s parts were good. I was agreeing every time I was reading the son’s perspective. But the mother’s perspective… I can’t.

13 Sassy Cheerleader.gifLet's talk about loveSassy cheerleader – a book that surprised you. I would say A Darker Shade of Magic, I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. But since I already mentioned that, I’ll throw in another book: Let’s Talk About Love. OH MY GOD. Yes, I was expecting to like it, but… Not that much.

That’s it for my Meme Book Tag. Hope you enjoyed this, and found several books you want to read. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve read any of these and what you think of them, or if you want to read them. And…that’s it.

Actually, I lied. I just wanted to say thank you for the great comments on my previous video. I’m happy you all really like it. I am definitely considering doing more. Maybe leave songs you would like to see translated into ASL? No promises, but I will think about it. Okay, now I’m really finished.
