Queer Lit Readathon

Welcome! This page is a one-stop for all things related to the Queer Lit Readathon. Here are the dates for all of 2023. Round 12 is here!

If you notice, there are two more dates than usual – in March and September. Those are what we’re calling #QueerWeekends, and they’ll be two days to simply read queer books. No challenges, no requirements, nothing. Just read queer!

Challenges

FAQ

Can I read the same book for multiple challenges?

Yes! We are aware not everyone can read many books in one week, so go for it!

Do I have to make a bingo?

No you don’t! You can read books from only the corners, or only the center, it’s all up to you. You can read 2 books or 14 books (we would be very impressed if you managed this!), the goal of this readathon is to be as flexible as possible.

I can’t think of any books that match {this challenge}, help!

We have a few videos that recommend several queer lit books, linked here.

Are you on other platforms?

Yes, we are @queer_lit on Twitter (where we will do chats/sprints, and boast other Queer Lit Tweets) and Instagram (where we post pictures of queer books year round).

When does the readathon start?

Midnight in your own time zone (or whichever time zone you want to pretend to be in for that week).

Should I caption my TBR video?

Yes, please! In fact, it would be great if you captioned all of your videos. The auto-generated captions have gotten better over the past couple of years, but they still don’t understand everything people say, and are clueless about punctuation and capitalization. Making sure your content is accessible is just the right thing to do.
