Do I Have That Book? Challenge | BookTube/Vlogmas Day 6

More books!

Hello and welcome to Vlogmas day six! I will be doing the Do I Have That Book? Challenge today. I first saw this from Adriana over on perpetualpages. I decided, this is a kind of fun challenge, so why not? Some of these books, I immediately thought of a book to fit the challenge, easy. Some of them, I’m like, …I think I have something? But I’m not sure. So I had to do some digging. Deep digging. Luckily, I was able to meet all 20 questions. You can see the books in the picture on the left.

(Editor’s note: I won’t be adding book covers in here since they’ll take up a lot of space. The questions will be bold, the titles will be italicized, and I will be adding the author names because in the video you can see them.)

Do you have a book with deckled edges? Yes. Thank you, Next by Michael Crichton.

Do you have a book with three or more people on the cover? The Austere Academy by Lemony Snicket. There’s a guy and the three siblings, plus all the students in a cafeteria. So you could say there’s more than three people on this.

Do you have a book based on another fictional story? The answer for this was easy, Peter Darling by Austin Chant.

Do you have a book with a title ten letters long? Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey. I can’t remember if I’ve ever actually read this. And if I did, it was way back in like middle school or something.

Do you have a book with a title that starts and ends with the same letter? Siblings and Other Disappointments by Kait Heacock. I haven’t read this, I got it from a friend when he was getting rid of books, so… We’ll see.

Do you have a mass market paperback book? I have shelves of mass market paperbacks because I’m cheap, but I decided to pick The Princess Bride, because I can. Still haven’t read it.

Do you have a book written by an author using a pen name? Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.

Do you have a book with a character’s name in the title? Several! But I chose Midnight for Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo.

Do you have a book with two maps in it? The Explorer’s Guild. The endpapers have a beautiful world map. But it also has a couple other maps in it. I think there are three, four if you include the endpapers.

Do you have a book that was turned into a TV show? For this one, I had to think a little bit because… I don’t have any of the books like Game of Thrones (I am aware it’s A Song of Ice and Fire, but whatever) or The Handmaid’s Tale or… I don’t have any of those. But! I do have Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. *finger guns*

Do you have a book written by someone who is originally famous for something else? I had to think for this, because I tend to not buy memoirs. I mean, I like reading them, but just…tend to not buy them. But then duh, of course! Sensing the Rhythm by Mandy Harvey. I was actually sent this by their publisher, so technically, I didn’t buy this. It was nice. (Editor note: I have no idea why I specifically said memoirs, there’s obviously other types written by this type of person. I also cut out the part where I mentioned the Green brothers, my dad and I have a few of John’s and of course, Hank’s debut.)

Do you have a book with a clock on the cover? This was easy. I immediately thought of this book the instant I saw this question. The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster.

Do you have a poetry book? I don’t really read poetry in general. So I definitely don’t have a lot. The ones I do have, I got from my friend, so I have milk and honey by Rupi Kaur. I still haven’t read it. I will. Eventually.

Do you have a book with an award stamp on it? I have several, but I chose I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika Sánchez.  It’s a National Book Award Finalist, so… I will get around to it, eventually.

Do you have a book written by an author with the same initials as you? I had to do a little bit looking for this one, because I don’t have all of my books on my Goodreads yet. I should. So… Luckily, I had a spreadsheet with most of my books on it, and I found Cryptid Hunters by Roland Smith. From my memories of this book, I really enjoyed this. I know I definitely read this several times, so…

Do you have a book of short stories? Again, I don’t really read short story collections. And again, most of the ones I have are from my friend, and most, I haven’t read. But this one, Ancient, Ancient by Kiini Ibura Salaam, I decided to pick this one just because it’s so beautiful. I mean, look it up!

Do you have a book that’s between 500 and 510 pages? Let me tell you. This one was hard. I searched and searched for a book that would fit this. I kept finding books that were like 498 or 515. Then I finally found one. Airborn by Kenneth Oppel, exactly 501 pages. This became one of my favorites as soon as I started reading this way back. I think it would still be a favorite today. It has a sequel too, so that’s really cool.

Do you have a book that was turned into a movie? I have several, but I decided to pick A Wrinkle in Time. Because I just like this. Yes, it’s old. Yes, it has some things that are ehh. But the recent movie was fantastic, in my opinion.

Do you have a graphic novel? In the video, I show a spread of four graphic novels: Daniel X: Alien Hunter by James Patterson, Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel by Eoin Colfer, The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang, and Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu. I’ve had the first two for a long time. And I’m really concerned about the new movie for Artemis Fowl, because… I’m not impressed. Not yet. The Prince and the Dressmaker, If you’ve been watching my channel for a while, you know I love this. I’ve read it twice now, and I probably will read it again. And again, and again. Then there’s Check, Please! I haven’t finished it, I’m only like 25 pages into it, and I am in love already. I can’t wait to finish this.

Last, but not least, do you have a book written by two or more authors? What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. Yes.

So the answer to that question, do I have that book?

Yes. Clearly, yes.

That’s it for today’s post. I enjoyed doing this, let me know if you enjoyed it too. If you want to answer these questions, go ahead and do that in the comments. Or just select a few, whatever. Make your own post/video if you want, it’s up to you. And… I will see you tomorrow.
