Books and Climbing | Vlog | Vlogmas

Note: This is a vlog, so the blog post will be slightly odd, due to jumps in location.

Okay, this is going to be a really quick vlog. I’ve been up for a while, doing editing – captions for the first Vlogmas video. I started Gender Queer last night, and I really like it so far. Really gorgeous art. I’m going to show you one. I show a page where the main character is sitting at the wide end of a nautilus shell, and it’s spiraling inward with a different question in each section. It’s just beautiful. I’m really looking forward to reading more of it. That’s the first update for Queer Lit Readathon. And… I’m going to take a shower, get dressed, go meet a friend for coffee, and… Yeah.

Of course I’m in a bookstore! No, actually I’m here because I’m dropping off–selling some books. I’m…looking at the clearance, around me. I just got rid of a huge pile of books, so I’m allowed. I’m allowed!

Just now, I realized wow, it’s been so long since I’ve done “daily” vlogging kind of thing. I’m realizing that I keep forgetting to pull out my phone for filming things, or whatever. So… That’s really interesting, because this channel started as a vlog channel, what I’m doing, filming that, myself, and whatever. So it’s really interesting to see how different that is now, I’m working on getting back to that.

There’s footage of me climbing two routes, then a short clip on the highway.

So I’m back home. Yeah, I know. I haven’t filmed anything since climbing last night, except for driving.

Right now, it’s December 2nd. So I’m on the second day for Vlogmas, *gestures at camera,* and day two for the Queer Lit Readathon. I am currently on my third book. I haven’t started it yet, but I just finished Blue is the Warmest Color. I also finished Gender Queer last night. Gender Queer, oh… It’s really good, really good. And Blue is the Warmest Color… It’s not really what I was expecting for some reason, but it’s still really good. It’s translated, so there’s little things that make you be able to tell it’s a translated book. The next book I will be reading is Unbroken: 13 Stories Starring Disabled Teens. So… I’m looking forward to this one. It’s not specifically queer, but from what I remember, someone was saying that this book has a lot of authors and stories that are queer. So, I will find out when I read this.

One thing I forgot to add that I want to add, I mentioned going to Half Price Books. After selling, I went ahead and bought three books. First, Iceland: Visual Explorer Guide. I was like ooh, it’s really pretty, because it has pictures of Iceland. I really want to go to Iceland some day. I know a few people who have lived there or are from there.

Then I got The Girl from Everywhere. It’s a really cool concept, I’ve seen this book before. That’s why when I saw the title, I was like yes, I know that book, how much? This cost $2, so. And the Iceland guide cost $3, so… Sure!

And then I got Pride. This is basically a Pride and Prejudice retelling. But if I’m saying this right, I believe that this is a retelling of that story, with all black characters and it’s set in NYC. Specifically, in Brooklyn. Yep. So.. that will be really interesting to read. As far as I know, none of those are queer, but… All of that for $7. Three books for $7. I’ll take it.

Okay. I am…going to go back to reading. I think this is probably the end for today, so I hope you enjoyed this vlog, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
